What we did this Summer

March 13, 2018

One of the great benefits of being a Keystone student are the connections our students make with future employers. Over the summer many of our students had the opportunity to gain work experience at Keystone sponsor companies. Below we will hear from a few of our students and their experiences over the break.

Alysha Gibbard, is a 2016 Study Award student studying architecture at Victoria University. Alysha spent her break working at The Building Intelligence Group in their Wellington office.

“The opportunity to work with The Building Intelligence Group as an intern has given me great exposure into the complex wider workings of our industry, and what is at the heart of good project management”.

2016 Study Award student Olivia Heighton was lucky enough to be a summer intern for Precinct Properties. Olivia is studying Property at the University of Auckland.

“A highlight for me was the morning we managed to get onsite to check out the new retail space that H&M will occupy. It was such an eye-opening experience to see how much detail and work had gone into creating what is going to be an international shopping experience right here in Auckland”.

Blake Cooper, 2017 Study Award student, has recently been working at Stride Property.

“In my role as Property Assistant at Stride Property, I have been assisting the other staff members in many ways, dealing with many spreadsheets and different tenant files. I am truly thankful to Keystone and Stride for providing me with this opportunity and will continue to work hard in order to prove myself in this new role”. Blake is just starting his second year studying property at the University of Auckland.

Last but not least we have Bradley de Klerk, who has spent his summer working for Hawkins Construction.

“In 2017 Keystone introduced a new initiative to its students, a Sponsor Student Catch-up. Renee, Ben and I met with Gary Walker from Hawkins Construction in semester one. Gary mentioned the fantastic Cadet program they offer to students and graduates. Immediately interested in Hawkins, I found myself with an Internship, working across many of their sites. I have met many people in the industry and because of Keystone I now have this great opportunity with Hawkins”. Bradley is a 2014 Study Award student and is studying Engineering at the University of Auckland.

A huge thank you to all our family of sponsors that give our students these fantastic opportunities!
