New Sponsor Turns Inspiration into Action

April 26, 2024

Sitting in the audience at Keystone Trust’s annual Rugby Lunch, Hugh Rebbeck was struck by the confidence and determination of the Trust’s student speakers, which saw him reflect on his own professional journey.  “In many ways, I can identify with the Trust’s benefactors – individuals who embraced the opportunity to forge their own paths and overcoming a fear of failure to take risks in pursuit of their goals,” says Hugh, one of the founding Directors of project management and building consultancy firm Rebbeck Dunn Watters (RDW).

RDW is the latest industry name to join Keystone Trust in a sponsor capacity, with the business pledging to provide annual funding, mentoring and work experience opportunities to the Trust’s network of scholarship recipients.

“It is heartening to welcome RDW to the Keystone whānau,” says Amanda Stanes, General Manager of Keystone Trust. “This is especially fulfilling considering the organic growth of this relationship, where RDW have attended Trust events and been suitably impressed with our social impact to enthusiastically join the team.”

RDW was founded in 2010 following an observation that there was a gap in the market for professionally led project management and building consultancy services. RDW is a modern dynamic organisation with a client list that would be the envy of many.

The broad list of professional services that RDW provides will enable students to gain valuable experience that will help them choose the correct pathway in their careers.  “RDW’s clients include many of the country’s pre-eminent property owners and occupiers.  The diversity of their professional offering including project delivery of new and altered real estate schemes, technical due diligence for both sale and acquisition, dilapidations assessments and maintenance planning provides valuable exposure to some of the more technical aspects of commercial property for students undertaking work experience or site visitation alongside the company,” Stanes says.

Of its decision to align with the Trust, Rebbeck says RDW had been searching for an initiative with the right fit. “It had to strike the right balance between purpose to our team and social good,” he says.

“The opportunity to provide funding that supports tertiary education and higher learning, or to share our collective industry experience aligns with our business ethos of learning, leadership and collaboration. We are proudly punching above our weight in being a smaller dynamic team with a huge output, and we offer a lot in terms of a connected industry resource for Keystone’s candidates.”

“New Zealand may be a small pond in a global context, but the chance to excel and have a meaningful impact is unmistakable. Repeat business has always been integral to our own business growth, so it is pleasing to see many of these long-term clients actively engaged within the Keystone community.

“This meeting of the minds for social good highlights the Trust’s capacity to unite the property sector and reaffirms RDW’s decision and commitment to partnering with an organisation that has changed the lives of countless students and continues to advocate for their place in the industry.”

Rebbeck Dunn Watters is a leading property consultancy based in Auckland’s Commercial Bay with decades of collective experience across the commercial project management and building consultancy sectors. The award-winning organisation is RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) aligned and widely recognised for providing valuable direction in a professional manner.
