Tell us a little bit about yourself…
I’m 18 years old and live in Napier. I am originally from San Francisco, California and migrated here 10 years ago. Over the summer I worked in a pet shop where I excelled at catching fish!
Why did you choose to apply for the Keystone Study Award?
I initially applied for the Keystone Study award for financial aid but then as I looked into Keystone with more depth and found out about the mentorship programme and amazing opportunity’s they give to young students during their time studying I realised that this award was more than just money, it was a chance to help me succeed in both my studies and future.
What excites you most about your chosen area of study?
I’m excited about the endless career possibilities there are when I come out of my degree and to know that this career path can take me around the world!
Why did you decide to take up qualifications in the property sector?
I was looking for a job that I would not only be passionate about but also know that when I come out of the degree I will have a career and job security in the long term. When I came across the Bachelor of Construction at Massey University it excited me and I never looked at anything after that as I knew that it was the perfect degree for me. Hearing about all the different career possibilities and the job progression made me so enthusiastic and eager to start studying and get out into the workforce. I have grown up with family working in construction and have always been interested in the construction industry.
What are you looking forward to the most in your study and time with Keystone?
With Keystone I’m looking forward to the amazing opportunities to make connections and get the chance to talk and seek advice from great, influential men and women within the construction industry. With my study at Massey I am looking forward to learning about something that I am genuinely interested about.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?
In 10 years time I see myself having a successful career within the construction industry and being financially secure and independent. I see myself being very career focused at that time and hoping to keep progressing and improving within the industry.
